The hidden cost of unprotected sealed product
Mint sealed boxes are graded as harshly as cards. WATA, CGC and other authentication graders look at:
- Shrink wrap integrity — any tear, lift, or scuff drops the grade
- Corner sharpness — even a slight dent is visible under proper lighting
- Surface scratches — fine scuffs from shelf neighbours show up immediately
- Box flatness — warping from humidity or pressure
The difference between a 9.8 and a 9.4 sealed grade can be hundreds of Euros on the secondary market. For premium chase sets like VSTAR Universe or English Evolving Skies, it can be thousands.
Why generic acrylic cases aren't enough
The most common storage approach is a basic acrylic display case. They look nice, but most have problems for serious collectors:
- Loose fit — generic cases are sized to the largest common format, so smaller boxes rattle inside
- No UV protection — standard acrylic still passes UV light, which fades both the box artwork and any visible foil
- Heavy and rigid — if you ever want to move your collection, acrylic adds a lot of weight and breakage risk
- Often more expensive than the higher-end PET alternative

Every Heimdall® PET Protector is manufactured to our specification — not a generic OEM run. Laser-welded seams (not glued), 0.5 mm clear PET, UV-protective formulation, dimensions measured against real production Pokémon boxes. This is also why we offer them with or without Heimdall branding on select formats: some collectors want the brand visible, others want a clean unbranded look for display.
